Monteith’s marvel

I am in the process of framing the article by Brian Monteith – “Extinction of capitalism would mean poorer world for us all” (7 September). It is full of accurate comments and facts which Extinction Rebellion will not like.

Revealing that deaths and disease as a result of climate change is falling and also

deaths from extreme weather events have fallen by a staggering 99 per cent since the 1920s will really upset XR disciples.

Many would suggest followers of Extinction Rebellion are brainwashed. The UK has 1.13 per cent of global emissions so why do XR not go to China with its 30 per cent of global emissions? Why not go to Turkey where President Rece p Tay yip Erdogan has announced the discover y of 320 billion cubic metres of natural gas reser ves off the Black Sea coast? Why not go to Russia which has the largest gas reser ves in the world with 1,168 trillion cubic feet?

So “cowardly” could be added to XR’S description.
