Jurassic Park
I thought the letter from Pauline Egger mon ton the awful perils of encouraging migrants (Letters, 4 September) was bad enough for xenophobia, but the anonymous letter (7 September) criticising Susan Dalgety’s article on the benefits of immigration completely eclipsed it.
It had everything – xenophobia, racism and rampant sexism. By the time I got to the bit that “silly, naive women” like me needed Scotsmen like him to protect us, I was thanking the Lord that not all Scotsmen are like him and steam was coming from my ears.
Then I realised that no intelligent being could actually have views like these in the 21st century and this had to be a wind-up. Either that or the electric fence round Jurassic Park had failed again.
