Microsoft executive to address tech event

Keynote speakers in cluding senior Microsoft execu - tive Steve Guggenheim­er and Scottish finance secretary Kate Forbes are to address a Scottish tech conference taking place next month.

The annual Scotsoft event is set to reboot as Cmdr Scotsoft on 1 October, saying it is uniting top Scottish technology innovators and organisati­ons with global industry leaders to share insight and discuss the opportunit­y for the sector to support economic and social recover y from Covid-19. The conference, now in its 23rd year, is run byte chi nd us try body Scotlandis. This year it is taking place virtually and free to attend. Guggenheim­er, corporate vice president at Microsoft, will share his experience­s in artificial intelligen­ce (AI) and its impact. Other speakers include Colin Cook, digital director at the Scottish Government; Rik Ferguson of Trend Micro; and AI ethicist Olivia Gambelin.

Cmdr S cots oft2020’s sup - porters include Skills Developmen­t Scotland, The Data Lab, Scottish Government, Edge Testing Solutions, and Sopra Steria. This year it will also include the Digital Technology Awards, to recognise Scotland’s emerging tech talent and celebrate the breadth of Scottish businesses leading innovation in the industry.

Jane Morrison-ross, chief executive at Scotlandis, said: “As we seek to create a Digital Nation within S cotland, Cmdr Scotsoft 2020 will create an opportunit­y for everyone to explore the future of new technolog y, to listen to internatio­nal industr y leaders, and to connect with the leaders of tomorrow.”
