Girls will be girls

-

Girlguiding Scotland has evidently diversified from pro - viding girls with characterbuilding communal activities into feminist campaigning( Friends of the Scotsman, 17 September). Why could that be?

A quick look at their website reveals government funding: did the organisation pander to SNP policy to get the grants, or did they secure the funding and then come under pressure to toe the party line? Either way, it’s the familiar story of the SNP’S tentacles reaching ever deeper into civic life.

To answer Catriona Manders, Girl guiding Scotland Speak Out champion, the gender pay gap is the result of men and women making different choices through their lives, from their courses of study to their family/career balance. These natural differences in priority yield a creative complementarity, but the dogmatic feminists insist that they indicate a losing battle of the sexes.

So, Girl guiding Scotland, please stop telling women and girls that they should be exactly the same as men and boys when it comes to their life choices.
