Textile firm sews up sales boost after alteration­s

Duns-based textile firm Scotlandsh­op has boosted sales and donated nearly £6,000 to the NHS by making face masks, while it has also started offering virtual appointmen­ts.

MD Anna White – who was recently named Regional Director of the Year for the south of Scotland by the Institute of Directors Scotland, said that on the back of the pandemic, the firm initially saw a 70 per cent drop in business online. The firm has a flagship store on Edinburgh’s Queensferr­y Street, is regu - larly present in London, and now trades globally, offering products and services in six languages.

White said face mask sales saw the firm return to normal trading, with 20 per cent growth some weeks. The products have been“a big hit, with some customers wanting them made in their own tar tan ”. The firm has also, in response to Covid-19, launched a video call appointmen­t service. White said: “We are excited about the future and where we are going.”
