ONS fears over test and trace details

Only a third of UK adults v i s i t i n g i n d o o r p l a c e s such as restaurant­s or hairdresse­rs are being routinely asked to provide personal details for Test and Trace purposes, new data has shown.

A report from the Office f o r Nat i o n a l S t a t i s t i c s ( ONS) said that 31 per cent of adults in England said t h a t t he y were a l ways asked for their informatio­n, but over a quarter ( 27 per cent) were never asked.

T h e f i n d i n g s v a r i e d across different countries in the UK, with 45 per cent of adults in Wales reporting being always asked for details and 66 per cent in Scotland. The ONS added that of those who were a s ke d t o pr ov i de t hei r details, nearly seven in 10 ( 69 per cent) said they did so ever y time, but 11 per cent said they rarely or never did provide their personal contact details.

The survey analysed the responses of 1,694 people.
