Upgrade call after sewage discharge

S c o t t i s h Wa t e r i s being urged to speed up a major upgrading project after raw sewage was discharged into the Water of Leith.

But t he Fr i e nds of Water of Leith basin have been highlighti­ng the problem of sewage near the Shore.

Tory councillor Call u m L a i d l a w s a i d : “Heavy rain has discharged raw sewage and other flushed nast i e s i nt o t he wate r - course. I t harms t he flora and fauna of the river, it makes the quayside and towpaths an unpleasant place to be and it affects the many residents and businesses that normally enjoy and trade off the ability to sit and enjoy some time beside the water.”
