While the agricultural industry might be be set with worries and uncertainties at the moment, a brand new book focusing on the lighter side farming life is set to bring some cheer back into the mix.

Farming is Still a Funny Business, which has been drawn together by that well- respected contributor to these pages, Andrew Arbuckle, is available to pre-order ahead of its launch next month – with all the profits once again going to RSABI, the charity which supports people in Scottish agriculture.

Timed to hit the Christmas market, the charity hopes the book will also raise the spirits of farming and crofting communities in the current challenging circumstances.

The latest volume follows two previous books compiled by Andrew and his brother John, which have collectively raised over £ 72,000 for RSABI – and it is hoped that that the third book will take that total to over £ 100,000.

The latest book follows the successful recipe of anecdotes from farmers, auctioneers, journalists, vet sand many others involved in the farming community. “The content I received was very wideranging and, while it was not possible to include

every quirky tale sent in, I very much hope the selection which has made it into the book might prove to be a useful record of farming experiences, as well as providing an entertaining read,” said Andrew who thanked all contributors.

The book also includes cartoons from Brian Petrie and sketches by Graham Lang – and Andrew said his hope was that the book would prove a popular stocking filler purchase ahead of the festive season.
