Food for thought
Parents in Scotland have warned that the prospect of exams being cancelled north of the Border again next year would cause “even more damage” to a future generation of youngsters.
Absolutely no justification for this threat to cancel exams this year. There are many options which could be explored and planned now! Do the government have no idea at all about priorities, and the devastation this would cause our children?

There is more than ample time to plan contingencies and book stadium venues if that’s what’s needed. Cancelling them is a copout and to do it again with so much time to plan is just incompetence.

The kids and teachers are all back, they could have redone this year’s now. However, I guess this to cover up the shocking results in schools in Scotland, including already dropping pass rates. They choose to rob the kids of a future with prospects. What were her words? “Judge me on education?” I think the mums and dads already have.

It will be more complex than socially distanced exam halls. The whole year will be disrupted with children and teachers selfisolating. A child or an exam moderator may have to even self-isolate on the day of an exam through track and trace. I think that despite the disappointment in the cancellation of exams the best thing is for a robust and transparent way forward put in place now rather than the fiasco we have seen earlier in the year.
Diane Walkeredge I believe constant assessment and graded assignments would be a far better outcome.
Cathryn Archer Exams are a far outmoded form of assessment and have only ever benefitted those who are good at rote learning and regurgitating information. That shouldn’t be the basis for marking intelligence.
