Motorcycli­st killed on Moffat road is named

A motorcycli­st who died i n a c r a s h o n t h e r o a d b e t we e n D u m f r i e s a n d E d i n b u r g h h a s b e e n named by police.

The incident happened around 5:50pm on Friday on the A701 near Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway.

A l e x a n d e r C a r s o n , known as Lex, was driving the red and black motorcycle that was involved in the crash. Emergency services attended and the 64-yearold, from Carluke, was pronounced dead at the scene.

S e rg e a n t B i l l y B r o a t c h said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Carson’s family at this sad time. I would ask t h a t t h e m e d i a r e s p e c t their privacy at this difficult time.

“O u r i n v e s t i g a t i o n i s ongoing to establish the full circumstan­ces of this i n c i d e n t a n d we wo u l d appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash to get in touch.”
