#HOMEWORKING

As Boris Johnson and Nicola Sturgeon got tougher on the Covid rules, Tory minister Michael Gove flipped recent UK government advice and said on BBC Breakfast that people should work from home where possible.

@Ceryskes wrote: “Messages like this shouldn’t be shared like this. This is where the confusion comes from. Daily briefings should be reintroduced.”

@chughs67 added: “No fan of the government but a large number of the public have shown that they just couldn’t be trusted with an increased level of freedom. Seemingly unable to be challenged. These are the consequences.”

@jamessmyth17 replied: “What freedom do you speak of ? We have had freedom from the outset compared to other nations. This government has created confusion at every turn, its advice & actions have cost lives. Those responsible should be sacked...”

@Barry_rsa added: “So all the companies who have spent a fortune making their premises COVIDsecure have wasted that. If this ‘guidance’ comes to pass, then the Government are effectively stating that no work premises are safe. This will lead to mass redundancies.”

#BAKEOFF

Twitter was excited by last night’s return of The Great British Bake Off – at the same time the Prime Minister addressed the nation on TV.

@moragforbes tweeted: “Today is Bake Off Day and frankly I am disappointed it isn’t a national holiday or something. At 20:00 today the struggles of 2020 shall be forgotten and joy will be brought back into our lives. (I may possibly be exaggerating the impact of Bake Off a little, but not much.)”

@Danieljjenks wrote: “Watching the PM’S speech. If you know what he is going to say already, why not ‘accidentally’ tweet it and then we can watch Bake Off on time.”

@Katyhealey added: “Feet up, a cuppa and a slice of cake watching the best thing on TV.”

@Tonysheps said: “Tonight on TV at 8pm: a host of amateurs cooking up things which will likely end in disaster, oh and The Great British Bake Off is on as well.”

@Rich_iz wrote: “The biggest proof that this government has no clue what it’s doing? Broadcasting their speech whilst the Bake Off is on.”
