Semi-finalists of startup contest revealed

The semi-finalists for the annual Startup Summit Competitio­n– which showcases “tech for good” firms – have been unveiled today by organisers Futurex.

The competitio­n offers a fully funded place on Futurex’s Silicon Valley Scale programme, and more than £60,000 of business support from Johnston Carmichael, STV and others, among the prizes.

The semi-finalists are drawn from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee, and span a diverse range of industries including mental health, and video games. They comprise CyberShell , Futrsm.pl, Frog Sys-tems, Konglomera­te Games, and Social Good Connect.

The final takes place on the second day of this year’s Startup Summit – 29 October.

Zoi Kantounato­u, co-founder of Futurex, said that see - ing so many companies use technology to create a positive change has been" a great reminder that Scottish companies are among the most innovative in the world".
