Off the hook

-

MP Margaret Ferrier will face no further police action for travelling from London to Scotland after testing positive for coronavirus because the regulations on selfisolation came into force after she was tested, Scotland Yard said.

Well, who is honestly shocked by that?! One rule for them and another for us plebs. Still, at least everyone can use brain fog as a get-out clause for their actions now.

Lux (Not Ron) The Met have found a way of avoiding getting involved in SNP catfights and have dumped the problem on Poileas Alba. Who can blame them?

Roderick Pearson I presume that means there will be no Covid laws as we can plead The Ferrier case as a reason for us ignoring them.

Grumpy

Are they laws? Or are they mere guidelines that get purported to be laws. Either way they are largely unenforceable and won't be tested in a court given the current backlog. Unless she introduces no jury Covid courts. Next time Sturgeon’s on your telly pontificating, remember Covid Maggie.

Old Man of Hoy

Next time Johnson's on your telly pontificating . Remember Covid Dominic.

Brian Keddie

Cummings isn't an elected representative, he didn't have a positive test and he didn't travel by public transport. Must do better.

Edmund North

Dominic Cummings set the precedent, of course the Met can't take this further without revisiting other cases. Of course the Unionists can't see that both should have resigned.

David Richardson

Well there’s a surprise, not. If she gets away with it then the rest of the population can do it as well

Brian Ross Why on earth is she getting away with putting a train full of people at risk. We all seem to be wasting our time taking care.

Alma Hilton Stephenson Someone knowingly breaks the rules while knowingly being infected. So what exactly do you need to do to get fined? We are all now facing sanctions because of a minority making poor decisions! It’s those decisions that our economy will be paying for, for generations.

John Ross

Shocking. Dominic Cummings was almost lynched for doing the same thing. But she was even worse by travelling on public transport hundreds of miles. He used his own car.

Rrhona Nnorwood He used his own car, which did the round trip on one tank of petrol? He didn’t spend any time taking refreshment breaks? He’s as bad.

John Longstaff He wasn't almost lynched. He was given protection by the Prime Minister, his own press conference at Downing Street and immunity from all forms of punishment and recourse. Literally nothing happened to him.

Les Mason Cummings did not have

Covid, that is the difference.

Gilbert Thomson Shameless liar of a woman, disgraceful decision by the police.

Pauline Downie

Sets a poor example to others, to behave properly within the rules and guidelines, which are becoming pointless, if this is how they are not enforced.

Stuart Anderson

Why bother with any rules, let’s just all do what we want and plead insanity due to the bug . It works for Daft Dommy and Covid Maggie.

Bob Bruce

That sets a bad precedent.

Howard Merritt

If the SNP hierarchy put pressure on the police to prosecute Alex Salmond, were they also pressurised not to prosecute Ferrier… just asking.

MK Devlin

Another justice dodger.

Arthur Conboy

So this will really encourage people to follow advice!

Sue Forsyth

Ridiculous decision and totally undermines the restrictions set out by the FM. Also it'll probably give the green light to the Old Firm footy numpties to jump over the border to a pub to watch the game because nothing will happen if they're caught, clearly, as the precedent has been set now.

Veronica Macdonald

Yet if it was Joe Public…

Simon Jones

If she isn't getting any more police action then the police have no right to take action about anybody in the whole country flouting the rules.

Fiona A Sampson

Is this yet another case of "One rule for them and one rule for us"? It sure smells of it.

Tarl Cabbot That’s all fine then? Being her back into the fold, Nicola. Nothing wrong with being a super spreader.
