Stirling hope to pounce if Spiders not up to speed

S t i r l i n g f a c e L e a g u e 2 favourites Queen’s Park with Forthbank manager Kevin Rutkiewicz out to catch the big- spending Spiders before they find their legs.

Rutkiewicz said: “Queen’s Park have put together a good squad and turning full- time has given them a huge advantage over the rest of this league. However, they will not be fully into their stride yet so we will look to take advantage of that.”

Stranraer play their first game in the bottom tier since 2012 when they host Elgin City with Stair Park boss Stephen Farrell hoping his side do not hang about too long.

Farrell said: “The teams i n this l eague are due a lot of respect as they have strengthen­ed, however I’d expect Stranraer to have an impact this season.”

Brechin Cit y manager Mark Wilson believes a win over Edinburgh City at Glebe Park would provide lift- off for his side after losing 16 goals in their three Betfred Cup games.

Wilson said: “We tried a f ew t hings out. S ome worked and some did not. We know that we need to improve defensivel­y but i t i s far from doom and gloom and a win changes the outlook.”

Cowdenbeat­h are determined to get this campaign off to a good start by seeing off Annan after coming unstuck at Elgin last August. Manager Gar y Bollan said: “That was a horrible start. I am looking for better this time.”

Albion Rovers host Stenhousem­uir and Coatbridge boss Brian Reid said: “We have been tipped to struggle and we will look to use being ever yone’s underdogs to our advantage.”
