Jihadist’s sister faces jail after appeal

A woman who practised knife fights with her jihadist brother as he plotted a terrorist attack in London could be jailed if the Court of Appeal decides her suspended sentence was unduly lenient.

Former Uber driver Mohiussunn­ath Chowdhury, 29, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 25 years in July after planning a gun, knife and van massacre in the capital.

His sister, Sneha Chowdhury, 26, was found guilty of failing to disclose informatio­n about acts of terrorism following a trial alongside her brother.

In August, Judge Andrew Lees sentenced her to two years’ imprisonme­nt, suspended for two years, saying that Chowdhury acted out of "misguided loyalty" to her brother.

But she now faces jail after the Attorney-general's Office decided to challenge her sentence as being unduly lenient.

Lady Justice Macur, Mr Justice Knowles and Mr Justice Picken will decide whether Chowdhury's sentence should be increased at a hearing in London on Friday.

He also bragged about deceiving an Old Bailey jury which cleared him of as word attack on police outside Buckingham Palace in August 2017.

Woolwich Crown Court heard that his sister knew he was training with wooden swords, known asbo kkens, practising knife fighting and rehearsing be heading attack sat the family home in Luton.
