Five of Scotland’s hospitality industry bodies have started legal proceedings against restrictions imposed by the Scottish Government.

@munnwez wrote: “Well it’s about time someone challenged the SNP'S lockdown madness.”

@Brucehenderson2 tweeted: “How absurd. The Gvt has an absolute duty to protect it citizens & would have failed if it had not taken action. It is interesting to note that when hospitality venues & then schools opened again the rate of infection & number deaths rose.”

@charlesr1956 wrote: “I presume that they have produced a cost benefit analysis, comparing the profit they hope to make, versus the extra deaths they will cause?”

@Rjphoneix16 wrote: “Deaths are caused BY lockdown. Try talking to people and you see how much suffering and premature death (inc suicides) is caused by people due to denial of healthcare, cut off from support, poverty etc. The pandemic was over in May. Stats are clear.”

@childofalba wrote: “They’re so concerned for their industry they’re fighting the government which has been supporting them to its fullest capacity instead of joining with it to lobby the UKG to provide the necessary cash to let SG do more. Genius.”

@tartannettles said: “What a ridiculously selfish thing to do. The public wont be kind to them.”

@Geeinthenorth wrote: "We might kill thousands of our customers and their families, but think of the money we'll make.”

@Sophiapangloss tweeted: “I hope the result of this is that the Government maintain the restrictions for an extra six months longer than they intended, just to be on the safe side, of course...”

@Sheilam1953 added: “Are they expecting a magic fairy to pop up with a crock of gold at the end of the rainbow.”

@jillparton tweeted: “SG response should be to remove licences from those who don't want to follow rules.”

@sparta638 tweeted: “The whole thing is a joke with what can and can't open! There will be more damage done in the long run keeping places closed, when lack of income hits hard.”

@justjob asked: “Can't this happen in England too?”
