Connery tribute

-

Calls for a fitting tribute to Sir Sean Conner have been circulating following news of his passing, with suggestions ranging from exhibitions detailing his life to statues in his likeness. But one early contender was a call to rename the Edinburgh’s West Approach Road in honour of the city’s most famous offspring.

Wesht Approach Road?

Neil Trippers

I think he would rather his name went to a cause to help people than name a road. Did he not love art so helping there would be more fitting.

Alison Brown

I think that they should put a statue in the area that he lived when he was younger. And maybe name a road too. No matter where he lived in life. He was still a fellow Scot who still loved Scotland.

Peter Brown

He lived in the Bahamas for years, tax dodging, and had no interest in living in Scotland

Kate Clark

Rename Edinburgh Airport Sean Connery Airport because he was an International star. There’s nothing to stop multiple sites of recognition – have a plaque and statue put in and get the bus changed to 007 for that area. All these things can have a knock-on effect if done right!

Robert Anthony Frederick

A specialist tearoom called Sconnery?

Callum Macleod Surely he was worth more than a road? Surely they could have a status in Fountainbridge. That would be more apt.

Scott Ellis A statue is a must. Every city has honoured its most famous son and daughters. Imagine going to Liverpool and there being no statues of the Beatles.

How ridiculous. Hume, Robert Louis Stevenson, Scott, Bell et al were all born in Edinburgh and all more famous than an actor. Many other Edinburgh sons have had a far greater impact on the world than an actor. I am not a member of the mob who fawn over so-called celebrities.
