Johnny Depp lost his High Court libel claim against the publisher of The Sun, which had said he beat then-wife Amber Heard. The actor says he will appeal.
@DKPIOW tweeted: “Ignoring the recordings of her admitting hitting him, whilst she produces sod all in defence. This is why male victims of domestic violence never come forward. And The Sun can destroy people's lives yet again.”
@kapamilya_lang replied: “No. This doesn’t have to do with him being abused by Heard. The trial is about his part in the domestic abuse. They both abused each other mentally and physically. It’s just that, now because of this ruling, Amber Heard has a better chance at winning in court against him.”
@kragloow wrote: “Draw a line under the whole sorry story. They both came out of this looking like pretty shoddy individuals and if he thought his reputation would be enhanced by this whole sorry episode he was very badly advised.”
@isitbacarditime wrote: “The judge disregarded police officers’ evidence, notes of docs and nurses, other physical evidence that favoured Depp, to take AH’S word and texts, Someone who changed her story often when caught in a lie. This is not justice, this is backwards and wrong.”
@jonstucov wrote: “Don’t people understand the meaning of overwhelming evidence these days, it means that the claims were proven true? What do people don’t get about it?”

Tony Blair yesterday published a four-point plan to avoid future lockdowns as he urged the Government to offer experimental treatments to all seriously ill coronavirus patients.
@micharlmcmurro wrote: “Tony Blair has a plan! (Iraqis diving under desks).”
@pearmaincottage tweeted: “I'd only add, to the Tony Blair thing, that we need to measure the effects of lockdown*. We may need it again even if we do all those things. In aid of which, can everyone stop whining about golf and church, and let HM Govt have the time back to DO those things. Ta.”
@Drdoomhem said: “Tony Blair has risen from the dead to put in his two cents on covid strategy in the UK. Another expert nonscientist thinking they have the best possible grip on a completely unknown situation.”
