Leith commercial units snapped up

- By SCOTT REID

All of the commercial units within the first phase of a key development in the shore area of Leith have been snapped up.

Acting on behalf of house - builder Ca la Homes East, property consultancy firm Ryden has sealed the sale of all commercial units within the first of the newly completed blocks at Waterfront Plaza, which is located near the entrance to the Ocean Terminal shopping centre.

The ground floor units have been sold for a mix of retail, office and studio uses, Ryden noted in an update on the development.

Waterfront Plaza is a major re-development of Lei th’ s shore comprising 422 residential units and 14 self contained ground floor premises benefiting from retail, office and studio planning content.

A second block is currently under construction and due to complete in phases from March onwards when the next batch of commercial units will be offered for sale.

Cameron Whyte, associate at Ryden, said: “As expected, and despite the current uncertainty due to the Covid 19 pandemic, these units have been extraordinarily well received in the market.

“The extension of the tram which runs alongside the development and the vibrant mix of amenities with the well-established Ocean Terminal retail and leisure complex directly adjacent to Waterfront Plaza make these commercial units a very attractive spot for any kind of business.”

Last autumn, Cala praised the success of its Waterfront Plaza development, which launched in July 2019 and became one of its fastest selling sites ever, with 16 homes sold in the first two weeks.
