Highland Show tickets go on sale

- By BRIAN HENDERSON

Living up to the old adage that “the show must go on”, organisers of next year’s Royal Highland Show, have announced that ticket sales for next June’s four-day event open tomorrow.

The move follows the cancellation of the 2020 event due to Covid-19 restrictions–but while the show is billed as the country’s biggest outdoor event, normally attracting close to 200,000 visi-tors, the organisers are set to limit the number of show-goers in 2021 as social distancing measures are likely to remain in place.

However while the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland( RH ASS) was unwilling to give a figure the total attendance for which it was currently planning, it said that the opportunity to “scale up” the event remained if changes to government restrictions allowed.

Day-specific tickets will be released via Ticketmaster on a staged basis – with the first batch of “several thousand” –representing ten percent of the expected total – going on sale at 12 noon tom orrow with the next release in early January with increased prices.

The first tranche will see adult day single tickets priced at £25 plus booking fee (£1 increase on 2020 prices ), while this will increase to £30 plus booking fee for January sales.

Children aged 15 and under will go free with a paying adult.

Members will still gain free access to the show but to enable track and trace measures to been forced they will be asked to opt in for the days they will attend.
