Angela Mitchell’s appointment strengthens Deloitte leadership
● Deloitte has strengthened its leadership in Scotland with the appointment of a new senior partner for Glasgow. Angela Mitchell has recently taken on this role and is responsible for the growth and development of the Glasgow practice. She takes over from Douglas Farish who is now leading the Edinburgh office as senior partner, following the retirement of John Macintosh. Angela also leads Deloitte’s Public Sector practice in Scotland and has over 24 years’ experience of delivering services to clients across central government, local government, health, education and policing. She became a partner in 2010 and is also a non-executive director for the Wheatley Group.
Angela said: “Our practice in Glasgow is in a great position, and my goal is to build on its strengths by supporting further expansion across our business. Although our physical location is in Glasgow, our teams excel at delivering work at a national and global level, and I will continue to bolster our capabilities by investing in our people and clients.” Douglas Farish has been with the firm for 18 years and now heads up the tax practice in Scotland, alongside his role as office senior partner for Edinburgh. Douglas said: “Edinburgh is a key part of our operations in both Scotland and the UK, boasting an impressive number of specialisms. Part of my role as office senior partner is to grow awareness of the areas of expertise that are unique to our practice, helping to identify where these can present new opportunities for supporting our clients.”
The founding CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre, part of GCHQ, Ciaran Martin, has joined the Scottish Business Resilience Centre board to strengthen its strategic cyber relationships across the UK.
Ciaran will work with SBRC CEO, Jude Mccorry and the organisation to build its broader cyber strategy and strengthen its relationship with industry and government. Mccorry said: “Businesses have never before experienced the strain that they currently face as a direct result of Brexit and Covid-19. Added to the fact that we have seen a noticeable a rise in cyber attacks on business, if the extremely tough market conditions don’t negatively impact a business, a security breach might.”
