Bairns six points clear after win over Clyde

Falkirk opened a sixpoint gap at the summit of League 1 thanks to a 3-0 success over a Clyde side that had defeated them in their three meetings last season.

Charlie Telfer netted the opener on 30 minutes from 18 yards and Scott M erc er headed home from a corner 10 minutes into the restart, with Ben Hall scrambling a shot over the line four minutes later.

Partick Thistle won 2-0 at Forfar to move into second, with Shea Gordon heading in on 52 minutes and Ross Docherty curling home 10 minutes from time.

Dumbarton beat visitors Cove Rangers 1-0 thanks to Nat Wedderburn’s header early in the second half, while Russell McLean made it five goals in five games when he slot ted past Max Currie as Montrose defeated hosts Airdrie 1-0. Peterhead defeated East Fife 2-1 at Balmoor.

League 2 leaders Queen’s Park also establishe­d a sixpoint advantage despite drawing 3-3 with Edinburgh City at Hampden. Josh Campbell put the Citizens ahead on 15 minutes, with substitute Ross Maclean’s deflected effort restoring parity four minutes after the break. Bob Mchugh’s penalty had the hosts ahead before Campbell equalised, with Gabby Mcgill po king home for City after Will Baynham had made it 3-2 for Queen’s.

Second-placed Elgin City lost 3-1 at Albion Rovers despite leading through Matt Cooper’ s header at the break, while substitute Declan Byrne grabbed the only goal as Stirling Albion defeated visitors Cowdenbeat­h 1- 0. Stenhousem­uir came back from two goals and a man down to draw 2-2 with visitors Stranraer.
