#GÉRARD HOULLIER

Former Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier has died at 73.

@Lfc_ireland78 wrote: “He revolutionised Liverpool FC, laid the foundations for our modern era. Brought through Owen, Gerrard, Carragher, with transfer vision to sign Hyypia, Hamman, Riise & Dudek. A wonderful man, a wonderful manager. Merci Monsieur.”

@Ian_rush9 tweeted: “Devastated at the passing of Gérard Houllier. A true gentleman of the game, always put others first.”

@beakerjt replied: “RIP Gerard. I'm just gutted - what memories he gave us. I'll be forever thankful for his contribution to our club.”

@Pitch221 added: “So sad to hear of the passing of Gérard Houllier. Ultimately he rebuilt Liverpool into a successful club. 2001 treble: phenomenal

Although it was a lot of work from Benitez, most of the 2005 #ucl winning team were developed/bought by Houllier also!"

@roisiindyle wrote: “The entire LFC family worldwide is feeling a huge loss this morning.”

@Kensheppard3 wrote: “Honorary Scouser and a great manager! Too young to leave us.” @Brigadebrexit wrote: “He was a gentleman to all”

#BLOODDONOR

The UK is set to lift its blanket ban on blood donations from men who have had sex with men in the last three months.

@adebradley wrote: “To be very clear on the new rules, they are now behaviours based - not sexuality based. It’s based on whether you’ve had new partners in last three months and if so, what kind of sex you’ve had - not who you had it with.”

@robismbeam asked: “How does the government intend to verify that people are in long term relationships?"

@alphydr1 replied: “Does not matter, all blood is screened anyway. So the ban is just homophobia.”

@plauey851 asked: “Finally, I can give blood without being a bloody monk. I don't get why they don't just require a visit to an std clinic for a test before giving blood.”

@Thegeoffrey wrote: “I refuse to donate until all LGBTQ people can donate without arbitrary restrictions. This policy is still predicated on the belief that gay men are icky and can't be trusted. We've screened every blood donation for HIV for 30 years now. There is no reason for this.”
