Gleneagles comes to the capital with townhouse and rooftop bar

- By CAITLYN DEWAR

Gleneagles is set to open a luxury townhouse in the heart of Edinburgh next autumn.

The world-famous hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, is launching its first ever city outpost at No 37 St Andrew Square.

The building was originally used as a hotel before becoming the home of the British Linen Company, which later became the Bank of Scotland.

With outstanding architectural features designed by notable architects and sculptors such as David Bryce and Alexander Handyside Ritchie, the building is being revamped to become Gleneagles Townhouse.

The townhouse will have 33 exquisitely designed bedrooms, each one unique and designed to imbue a sense of understated luxury with an appreciative nod to the heritage of the building.

Also on the premise will be an all-day restaurant perfect for breakfasts, long lazy lunches and spirited dinners, as well as two bars, including a rooftop terrace where guests can enjoy views over the city.

Gleneagles Townhouse will also be home to an exclusive members’ club – a community with a passion for exchanging ideas, discovering new obsessions, collaborating together and simply having fun, with access to exclusive private space san don-site gym and wellness.

The five-star golf resort in Auchterarder has held five AA red stars since 1986 and has been named the best golf resort in the world by Ultratravel magazine six times between 2012 and 2017.

The hotel has three golf courses which have hosted the likes of the Ryder Cup and the Scottish Open.
