The BBC declined to comment on reports suggesting Jodie Whittaker planned to leave Doctor Who later this year.

@thisdrinkilie1 wrote: “Hopefully she stays and the rumours are false. She’s a great Doctor and actress and that last episode really showed that.”

@Paulilett agreed: “I have thoroughly enjoyed Doctor Who with Chris Chibnall in charge and Jodie as the Doctor. They really brought a sense of fun, joy and adventure back to the show that's been missing for many years. If true, I would be very sad.”

@mikeroscoe67 replied: “Sadly, the viewers do not seem to agree – over half of them have stopped watching since Chibnall's first episode. Hard to see how the BBC can continue to spend big budgets on such an unpopular show.”

@hzjoetv tweeted: “It's the most boring the show’s ever been. Pacing is off, the writing is garbage and overall it just feels too political.”

@Dezmc85 added: “Why are people shocked at this? Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Peter Davison and Sylvester Mccoy all left after three seasons.”

@rafcorreia said: “There's no point in Jodie leaving the show while Chibnall continues as the showrunner. He's the worst thing that ever happened to the show. If Jodie is leaving, he should go with her. However, I think Jodie deserves another run with other people writing for her.”

#BORISJOHNSON

The Prime Minister was expected to follow First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and introduce tougher Covid measures in England.

@celinetang5 tweeted: “I hope Boris gives the nation a right old bollocking tonight because we deserve it! While a large number of us have complied there is also an equally large number who clearly do not care. The government isn’t to blame, it’s the covidiots. We should fine each one of them £10k.”

@Pranman said: “Our Prime Minister is incompetent. If this was a regular job, he’d have been fired long ago.”

@SJGZD1 wrote: “A halfsharp could’ve predicted this. Incompetent government. Shut the UK down now! Including Construction sites! For a month! Working in Construction, it’s frightening what I am seeing on sites!”
