Mcinnes says no January signings for Aberdeen

- By ANGUS WRIGHT

Aberdeen boss Derek Mcinnes has poured cold water on the Dons doing any transfer business this month.

Marley Watkins’ loan deal is up and Ronald Hernandez is poised to head out, but Mcinnes says the Dons are not in a position to bring any new recruits to Pittodrie.

He insisted :“Nobody will be signing in January, nobody".

That might change if others were to move on, and striker Sam Cosgrove was linked to Newcastle late last year, however Mcinnes is anticipating an identical squad for the second half of the season as that which has achieved third spot in the first half of the Scottish Premiership season.

He said: "We run as we are. We have a squad who obviously have got to third in the league at the halfway stage and we want to try and improve on that in the second half of the season.

"There is no manager out there who won't want to make one or two adjustments to the squad but we are not in a position to be able to do that and we go as we are.

"No players will be here in January. If anybody would move on it would maybe change things but as it stands we don't plan on selling anyone in January and we stay as we are."

Further down the line the Dons may see a departure though as Scott Wright’s contract talks have broken down.

Mcinnes added :" The door is not closed but the likely destination for Scott looks to be down south."

The Don shave also been linked with a pre- contract move for Ross County striker Ross Stewart.
