Supporters aiming to raise £100k from Hibs’ Hampden trip

- By PATRICK MCPARTLIN

Fans’ organisation Hibernian Supporters has launched a new initiative aiming to raise £100,000 from Hibs' trip to Hampden this weekend.

As the Betfred Cup semi-final clash with St Johnstone is taking place behind closed doors, HSL is asking Easter Road fans to consider contributing the cost of a day out at the national stadium to the club as a oneoff donation in the hope of raising a six-figure sum.

Hibs supporters who are able to donate £25 or more to the #Hampden100k campaign throughout January will automatically be entered into a draw with the chance to win a signed Hibs shirt as well as prizes donated by club partners including Luke 1977, Marc Darcy Menswear, and the Vittoria Group.

Since Ron Gordon took the reins in July 2019, more than £300,000 has been raised for the club by HSL; a valuable source of additional income during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic with funds raised by supporters going straight

into the club's player budget.

Since March 2020, followers of Hibs have helped the club by donating between £20,000 and £30,000 on a monthly basis thanks to regular donors and those making one-off contributions.

The organisation’s main ambition is to continue supporting the on-field efforts of the team. HSL has acquired a 15.4 per cent stake in the club and hopes to increase that to 25.1percentbutatthemoment there are no shares available to purchase with all funds being transferred to the club.

HSL chairman Jim Adie said he was hopeful that fans would continue backing the club financially.

He said: “We are simply asking fans to consider donating the cost of their day out at Hampden this month to Hibernian Supporters so we can continue to boost the football budget at the club.

“Some supporters have donated £25 which they would have spent on a match ticket. Others have generously contributed more to cover the would-be costs of travel to Glasgow or refreshments at the stadium. We can't thank our members enough for backing our latest initiative.”

Fans keen to support the campaign should visit the Hibernian Supporters website to make a contribution.
