Kerry sets offonthe road to Glasgow
America's top climate representative has embarked on "the road to Glasgow" and Cop26 in November.
John Kerry, a previous US secretary of state and a presidential candidate in 2004, has been appointed as the special presidential envoy for climate, with a focus on the environment and energy policy.
Just hours after new US President Joe Biden took office in the White House on Wednesday, Mr Kerry tweeted : "Friends, today we get back to work. As I head back into government I'll now be tweeting from @Climateenvoy.
"I hope you'll follow me there and join me on the road to Glasgow!"
The tweet, which suggests at least Mr Kerry will be in attendance at the Cop26 summit in Glasgow, came after Mr Biden signed an executive order rejoining the Paris climate agreement.
Mr Biden's predecessor Donald Trump left the accord, which is designed to keep global warming below 2C.
