Single ticket wins £532m lottery jackpot

A single Powerball ticket in the US has won an estimated 731.1 million dollar (£532 million) jackpot, the first to get the top prize in months.

Following the win, the new jackpot drops to an estimated 20 million dollars (£14.5 million) for the next draw on Saturday.

The Powerball jackpot was the fifth-largest US lottery jackpot ever, and came a day after nobody won the Mega Millions prize, which now stands at £706 million.

No-one had won either of the jackpots since midseptember, allowing the prizes to grow steadily.
