Johnston Carmichael strengthens restructuring team

-

● Leading accountancy and business advisory firm Johnston Carmichael has strengthened its restructuring team with the progression of Graeme Bain to an appointment-taking director.

Graeme, a licensed insolvency practitioner, joined Johnston Carmichael as a director in 2017, can now be appointed to oversee formal insolvency appointments. His progression comes after a 20-year career in restructuring, 16 of which were spent at a big four firm. While highly experienced in all aspects of personal and corporate insolvency Graeme specialises in contentious creditor- led cases and has in-depth knowledge of investigation and asset recovery processes.

He said: “Becoming an appointment-taking practitioner is a proud moment in my insolvency career and it has been a long-held ambition for me since starting out in the profession 20 years ago. “The past year has undoubtedly been one of the most challenging in living memory for Scottish businesses.

“As we continue to get to grips with the pandemic, I am looking forward to having the opportunity to utilise my experience to help directors, creditors and other stakeholders navigate its financial impact.”

Scottish accountancy practice Wylie & Bisset has promoted two long-standing members of its business recovery and insolvency department.

The promotions see insolvency managers Paul Mcdougall, with almost 15 years’ service with the firm, move to associate director, and Chris Wardle, with over 19 years’ service, to senior manager from February 1. Donald Mckinnon, managing partner at Wylie & Bisset, said: “We’re delighted to recognise the longstanding contribution made by two of the most-valued members of our insolvency team through these promotions. Very well done to both Paul and Chris, who have worked very hard and contributed to the success of the firm over many years. “Paul’s focus is on the consumer debt solutions area of the department and he has second-to-none technical knowledge of all personal insolvency matters. Integral to the business achieving FCA status, he has also been responsible for developing the provision of our DAS service within the department. We believe DAS will prove an effective tool to offer personal or business clients.
