Crawford insists wins will come after Pars draw for third time in row

-

Drawing and not winning is hurting second-placed Dunfermline’s title bid, but East End Park manager Stevie Crawford remained positive following their goalless affair with visitors Ayr.

It was a third consecutive share of the spoils for the Fifers and a chance missed to put maximum pressure on leaders Hearts ahead of a trip to Tynecastle next weekend. But Crawford said: “I do not want to sound disappointed in the boys as we have had a really good start to the season. We are drawing too many games and we did not work their goalkeeper enough but we know what we need to do better.”

“We just need to add a little spark of creativity and we will start winning again.”

In the first half the Honest Men had the best chance with a Luke Mccowan effort from the edge of the box but the ball whistled wide of Owain Fon Williams goal. The Dunfermline goalkeeper made a fine stop two minutes into the restart when he spread himself to keep out Tom Walsh’s close-range effort, with striker Declan Mcmanus miscuing Pars’ best opening shortly afterwards.

Queen of the South continued their push away from the bottom of the table with a 2-1 success over visitors Morton. The Doonhamers were on their way to ten points out of 12 when Ayo Obileye nodded in a Rhys Mccabe corner on 15 minutes.

It was 2-0 12 minutes later when Aidan Fitzpatrick carved his way through the Greenock side’s defence and slotted home however just before the hour mark Kalvin Orsi tapped in a rebound after Aidan Nesbitt had been denied by Rohan Ferguson.
