In an emotional speech yesterday, Nicola Sturgeon apologised for any mistakes her administration had made throughout the pandemic. Online respondents had many suggestion as to what the Scottish – and UK – Government got wrong.

What about the Cobra Meetings not attended, Nike conference, Rangers match, the rugby, when they knew it was in Scotland in January. Too Late.

Agnes Clark

The elderly patients with a positive Covid-19 test who were knowingly discharged into the community, for whom she will not allow an independent inquiry!

Veronica Hunter

Close borders earlier! But that’s Westminster not allowing us to do so!

Phil Hewitt

A lot more could have been done at borders and airports etc that were in the Scottish Government's jurisdiction.

Maria Laverty

Well of course they could they could prevented so many pointless deaths. Only if they acted sooner

Sandra Ramhaw

All borders into the UK should have been closed, as well as the internal borders. Boris' jurisdiction, not Sturgeon's, but it should have been done. At least it would have been isolated and dealt with. Things would have been more or less back to normal by now, even if foreign travel was still off the cards.

Dougie Milne

[Nicola Sturgeon] has the power to force anyone to self isolate though under the public health act. She could have implemented so many measures under this but didn’t. So it’s not just Boris.

Murray Smith

Compared to others, she made a good job.

Olaf Jacobsen Concentrated on the virus not independence, stopped students going to university stopped marches and protests, looked after care home residents much better, fined people breaking lockdown including parties and raves gathering at parks and beaches.

Nancy Skelton Should not have tried to conceal the Nike outbreak early on. The enticement of a relaxation at Xmas was stupidity. Especially after no such consideration was offered to other religions. Made a mess of the schools exam situation. Announcing that the kids didn’t need to worry as they had plenty years to make up for lack of education over the coming months. However, when she realised her party’s plans were not popular with parents, she did a quick turn around, making return to school a priority. This made me realise what her and her party about. Independence at all costs.

Eric Foulds They were following what the other nations were doing. In hindsight they would have done a few things differently but it wasn't easy deciding at the time.

Bill Mcewan Signed up to a United

Kingdom wide strategy, not sent infected elderly to care homes, focused on the pandemic and not independence at all costs.

Gordon Devlin It's pathetic, every leader in the UK is pathetic! Anything done now is necessary, but still too late regardless.

Rory Nairn

Flight of sense?

The First Minister reiterated that in order to prevent the further spread of the virus “no one should be travelling overseas right now, unless for absolutely essential purposes.”

Airports should have been closed when this panic started, last March, nobody out or in the UK.

Bert Gare

You would not believe the amount of people that would agree with that statement but economy got in the way mate.

Andy Gibson

We have heard this for months, and still it is happening.

Irene Brown

Totally agree with this, all international travel should have been stopped last March, no one in, no one out, apart from essential workers and goods and services.

Philip Richard Allen

Just have a look at the air traffic tracking websites and you'll see how many private jets are up in the air at any one time. As always, it's one rule for us and another for them!

Angelo Greig

Private jets are hired to transport goods by delivery companies quite a lot.

Steve Carruthers

Is Boris Johnson travelling to Scotland deemed to be overseas? He is the Prime Minister of the whole of the UK, Nicola… including Scotland.

John Daramy Can't believe some folk are going on skiing holidays!
