#LONELINESS

Japan has appointed a ‘Minister of Loneliness’. The role aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation among Japan's residents as the country deals with rising suicide rates.

@Piotrsb wrote: “I actually like loneliness. But what do I know?”

@Shounakdutta replied: “The thing is, you like solitude not loneliness. No one likes loneliness as it's not really something any human being craves, as we are social animals, but yeah, there are so many people who willingly choose and love solitude. Two completely different things, my brother.”

@hannahchan21 tweeted: “Okay, but does he have any mental health training? It’s a sociological issue that needs to be addressed as well as mental health treatment. Suicide is a symptom of a bigger issue at hand. It needs to be addressed by someone who knows how to treat it on a sociological level.”

@Ht_magaka replied: “You need a really warm heart and cool head to reach people who are lonely and emotionally distant. I hope he can help, at least. Mental health treatment is not a cure for loneliness. Sorry." @You_sufmia wrote: “That is so sad. And we think this is a model, developed and technologically advanced society. It's years of policies that's resulted in this sad trend and its fast catching up in the west.” @Armoredchocobo added: “Japan you’re supposed to joyously weird, not depressingly weird.”

A biopic of Take That star Robbie Williams is in the works from The Greatest Showman’s director.

@shaunwkeaveny wrote: “On my death bed, if someone whispers ‘that Robbie Williams biopic comes out on Friday’, I will squeeze the carer's hand and whisper, ‘I’m ready to go’.”

@pramkzone replied: “Come on, it will feature the mean streets of Hanley, it will be amazing.”

@Comedinewithpad wrote: “One of my teachers used to brag that his single greatest achievement in life was chinning a teenage Williams for being a breakdancer in Tunstall Park.”

@speckster91 responded: “If that's not in the biopic then society has failed.”

@juliesheasport said: “Fred Astaire had Top Hat, Robbie Williams could have Tin Foil Hat.”
