DRAMA

Mcdonald & Dodds

More Midsomer Murders than Line of Duty, the Bath-set cosy crime series returns with three feature-length episodes. Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins reprise their roles as the ambitious DCI Mcdonald and humble DS Dodds, with a rotating cast of guest stars, which in the first episode includes Rob Brydon, Rupert Graves, Martin Kemp, Patsy Kensit and Cathy Tyson.

When a hot air balloon crash lands in Bath’s Royal Crescent, it soon emerges that there is one less person in the basket than set off. Arriving on the scene, Mcdonald and Dodds are joined by Roy Gilbert (Brydon) from the Air Accident Investigation Branch, who proves to be an unwelcome addition to the team for some.

DNA Family Secrets

Over 26 million of us have taken a DNA test in the past decade. This growing popularity in genetic testing has created a network of databases that can answer questions previously impossible to know about our families, ancestry and health.

In this three-part series Stacey Dooley meets people across the UK who want to discover a mystery hidden within their genetic code. Working with one of the UK’S leading geneticists, Professor Turi King, as well as genealogists, social workers and doctors, they’ll use the advances in DNA technology to help reveal lost heritage, track down missing relatives and detect debilitating diseases before it’s too late.

Cases in the first episode include 75-year-old Bill, whose father was an American GI who he never met, a 53-year-old man who has discovered that his dad was not in fact his biological father and a woman who is coming to terms with the news her father has been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease.

Tuesday, BBC2, 9pm

ART

Ricky Wilson’s Art Jam

Kaiser Chiefs frontman and former art teacher Ricky Wilson will be showcasing his love and passion for art in this new series for younger viewers, who may have to ask their parents who he is. Each episode will see a celebrity guest bring three items into Ricky’s studio, each with its own backstory. Ricky then uses these stories to make a piece of art just for them. He will also reveal his favourite pieces of art as he tours galleries across the UK.

Monday to Friday, CBBC, 11am

COMEDY PRU

Set in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), a school for excluded children, this pilot episode follows four 15-yearolds who are teetering on the edge of the education system. All are seemingly self-destructive and adept at hiding their problems behind challenging behaviour. Although a comedy, the team behind the sitcom have drawn on the experience of working closely with young people in PRUS across London.

The young leads are all played by newcomers selected from open casting, while Tom Moutchi plays their long-suffering behaviour manager Anthony.
