Cavendish already feels at home during first days of return to Belgian squad

- By IAN PARKER

Mark Cavendish has felt right back at home in his first two months with Deceuninckquickstep.

The Manxman signed with the Belgian squad this winter, returning to the team he last raced for in 2015 in their guise as Etixx-quickstep.

Cavendish will line up for his second race of the season at Le Samyn today, having ridden at the Clasica de Almeria last month where he rode home in 94th place after suffering a mechanical problem.

He said he had learned little from that race in terms of his form but did feel part of the team once more.

"You don't really get much from one race back, to be fair," he said. "Obviously, most people are pretty fresh coming into the season and I don't think I was any different. But what I know is I felt part of this team. I felt like a bike rider and I just keep looking forward."

Deceuninck-quickstep, who have already won six races in the first few weeks of the season, will boast a strong squad today.

Cardiff Blues have announced that they will be known as Cardiff Rugby from the 2021-22 season.

The Arms Park outfit have been known as the Blues since Welsh rugby's regionalisation in 2003, but they will now drop the branding and revert to the traditional Cardiff colours of blue and black.

"Cardiff Rugby is a worldrenowned brand and we simply have to leverage that to build sustainable success on and off the field," said chief executive Richard Holland.

"Not only is Cardiff globally recognised in rugby circles, it is also the commercial powerhouse of Wales and one of the fastest-growing cities in the UK and Europe.

"Over a long period, our supporters and sponsors have been very clear that this is what they want and I am pleased that we have been able to respond to them in such a positive way, especially at a time when they have stood beside us.

"We are enormously excited to see what the future holds and look forward to seeing the blue and blacks run out at the iconic Arms Park, whether in the Regional Age Grade competitions, Indigo Group Premiership, Guinness PRO14 or European competition."

Meanwhile, Munster lock Billy Holland has announced he will retire at the end of the season.

Holland's professional career began with the Irish province in 2007 and he has gone on to be their second most capped player with 241 appearances. The 35-year-old played one Test for Ireland in 2016. "The time is right for me to hang up my boots," he said.
