Captain stands by Tonev support but insists he has no issue with ‘fantastic’ Logan

-

like Scotty [Sinclair], we’ve had Moussa [Dembele] and we’ve had Odsonne [Edouard] getting racially abused, and that should never happen, no matter who you play for.

“This club has been fantastic, we work very closely with Show Racism the Red Card and we all firmly believe in that. It doesn’t matter where you come from, as soon as you walk in the door you are accepted and you are part of us, Celtic Football Club, and Aberdeen will be as well. They will be open to every single player.

“It doesn’t matter about your religion, the colour of your skin, or where you come from. It’s about being a team-mate and doing the best for your team-mates.

“At that time, I stuck up for my team-mate because he [Tonev] said and he swore down to me that he didn’t do it, so you’ve got to take his stance on that. To this day, I still don’t know whether he said it or not. It was one person’s word against the other.

“But I’ve got huge respect for Shay. He’s been a fantastic player for Aberdeen over the years, he’s worked extremely hard. We’ve had a lot of battles over the course of our careers, and it’s been enjoyable to be fair. I’m sure he’d say the exact same.”

Logan was asked about Brown yesterday following his unveiling at Hearts and insisted he has no issue with the Celtic captain. “On the pitch you have stuff with all sorts of players,” said the full-back.

"It's not that we didn't get on - he played for Celtic, I played for Aberdeen, there was rivalry on the pitch. He wanted to win, I wanted to win. In terms of that, I've had fights like that with people on the pitch for the last eight years.

"I've got no personal vendetta against Scott Brown. I don't think he's got one against me. Him coming to Aberdeen has nothing to do with me leaving - my contract is up."

Logan added: "Am I his mate? No. Do I know him? No. Do I hear he's a good guy? Yeah.

"We've had a little bit of argy bargy on the pitch, and for me that's where it stays.

"Anything else to do with other stuff where people might be saying about him backing Tonev with all the racism stuff I've left all of that in the past.

"It's so far gone that I only ever think about it if someone brings it up."
