Doing the maths
Nicola Sturgeon’s promises over what another Snpled government would do for Scotland are worthless, wrote columnist Brian Monteith, saying her sums didn’t add up.
The only thing that adds up, is independence, at any cost, and with any leader, we'll fix it later.
Alexander Orr I often wonder how other small nations manage to thrive! What is it about Scotland that some people think people who live here are not capable? They base their view on the existing situation and the existing situation is not good for Scotland.. This means the current situation is not working, hence the need for independence.
Mary Ward Trouble is, our education standards are now very low in the world. Thanks to the SNP. Independence will very much highlight this. Any clever person here will move on till all the corruption and hatred is gone. Same with business, banks etc. Who the hell wants to start a business here now?
Isabel Mungall
Funny how more Scots children are graduating from university than ever before.
Brian Forrest
No one will want to start a business in Brexit Britain. It’s time to get away from that utter disaster.
Kathleen King
Brian Monteith of Reform UK, formerly the Brexit Party. So he's arguably an authority on fantasy politics, to be fair.
Alan Eagleson
Once again Mr Monteith. If Scotland costs so much. Let it go!
Jo Don
Brian Monteith would do better to expose the Westminster accounts being total garbage.
Gregor Reid Says the man who believes
that the fantasy of Brexit has been and will be good for the Scottish economy and people!
David Howie At least she lives in Scotland, Brian.
George Brown She is still very good for Scotland, both at home and abroad.
Ann Fergusson Hume Jack Brian needs lessons in economics instead of writing fairy tales.
Martin O’neill Can't get away from the fact that the UK government shores up the coffers to provide Scotland with capital to pay for the things she promises. Where is the
money going to come from Nicola when the river bed dries up?
John Mcdougall Fantastic that you don’t need to be convinced to mak e the case for independence. Just imagine if we could spend our own currency on what we see fit? Tax does not pay for stuff so no, it is not English taxpayers paying for Scotland. There is an easy solution, independence, where we can take control and responsibility for both sides of the balance sheet.
Cathryn Jones Maybe she should do a Tory party in the last election and have no manifesto, so they didn't have to cost anything.
Daz Ostler
George snubbed?
George Galloway’s new political party is set to launch legal action against Scotland’s broadcasters due to perceived “exclusion” from the leader debates.
Pity he won’t be on TV. I’d like to see him denounce the “gin- soaked popinjays” of British politics, if only for the entertainment value of watching them squirm under well- prepared argument.
Charles Mackay George Galloway says: "Our message to the BBC is this: Include us and we promise both TV gold and a big audience." So, what will be Galloway's forfeit if his participation doesn't result in his promised big audience? His promise is as hollow as his politics, “a ll soundandfury, signifying nothing” . The participation of Galloway in TV debates is more likely to result in a drop in the number of viewers.
Denis Mcnair Get George, Nicola and Alex on same panel , would be worth watching.
Jim Strachan He's excluded because he's irrelevant.
Barry Kirk
Yet another yesterday's man crawling out the woodwork.
Heather Hackett
But I thought he was urging all “unionists " to vote Tory…
Angelo Greig
He’s irrelevant, let’s hope he loses in court and it costs him a fortune.
Dave Joyce He has no MSPS, hardly any support, so why should he be on our telly?
Howard Butler Alba don't have seats in Scottish Parliament, why should they?
Kristian Cooper If anything, he’s not been snubbed enough.
