Trio named in GB swim team for Olympics
Three more Scottish swimmers are going to the Olympics. Kathleen Dawson, Ross Murdoch and Cassie Wild join Duncan Scott in Team GB in Tokyo.
Three more Scottish swimmers are going to the Olympic Games.
Kathleen Dawson, Ross Murdoch and Cassie Wild will join Duncan Scott in the Great Britain team in Japan. The trio are named today among 24 additional swimmers who will represent Team GB at Tokyo 2020.
Thisfollowsthesecondphase of selection after the British Swimming Selection Trials in London earlier this month.
The24jointhefourpre-selected swimmers, Scott, Adam Peaty, James Wilby and Luke Greenbank, who were named back in January. The current team size now stands at 28.
Kirkcaldy-born Dawson was particularly impressive in Londontwoweeksago,winningthe 100m and 200m backstroke, becoming eighth fastest swimmer in history in the former.

Chris Spice, the British Swimming performance director and swimming team leader for Tokyo, said: “Of course, our work has only just begun and we now turn our attention to swimming faster in the summerwhichiknoweveryathlete on this team is capable of. If we do this I am sure we can have a very successful Tokyo Games.”
Whilst the bulk of the team is now confirmed, further swimmers may be added in June as part of the third and final phase of the selection policy. The forthcoming European Championships will be used to aid selection, with a primary focus on bolstering the potential for relay medals.
