Easyjet and Loganair to restore flights from Scottish airports today
Scotland's largest airline is to resume or restore flights on 13 UK routes from Edinburgh and Glasgow, starting today.
The move by Easyjet follows the resumption of cross-border non-essential travel on monday with the easing of Covid lockdown restrictions.
During May, it will resume flights from Glasgow to Birmingham and Jersey, and restore more flights to Stansted, Bristol, Luton and Belfast.
Easy jet will also resume flights to Birmingham from Edinburgh, while the airline plans to launch flights to Bournemouth from the Scottish capital at the end of the month. It will also increase the number of flights from edinburgh to belfast,bristol, gatwick, luton and Stansted.
It follows Glasgow-based Loganair, the UK’S largest regional airline, announcing plans to resume flights from Glasgow to Southampton, Kirkwall and Sumburgh, and restore more flights to Camp belt own, is lay, stornoway, tiree and Exeter.
Glasgow Airport will also reopen its duty free shop on Sunday for the first time in more than five months.
Loganair’s chief commercial officer kay ryan said :‘ we know many of our customers have been waiting for our services.
"As the UK’S largest regional airline, our network provides much needed connections from the islands to mainland Scotland and beyond.
"We look forward to our passengers returning to the skies.”
Loganair will also resume direct Aberdeen flights to Kirk wall and Shetland from Monday, which had been previously combined while Inverness stornoway flights will increase.
It will also resume flights to both island airports from Edinburgh five days a week and increase them to daily from May 24, with the same timetable for Edinburgh-stornoway flights while Inverness-stornoway flights will increase.
The airline then plans to progressively restore other flights on its more than 30 cross-border routes.
Glasgow Airport said rapid Covid testing facilities were in place in the terminal and car parks, with PCR test results available within 24 hours and antigen results in 15 minutes.
