Brodies boosts numbers with 9 partners

Scottish legal heavyweigh­t Brodies has welcomed nine new partners, including four internal promotions and five lateral hires.

The internal promotions comprise banking and finance lawyermark­meiklejohn;commercial litigator and solicitor advocate Craig Watt; and personal and family lawyers Hayley Robertson and Nick Marshall.

They will be joined by Allan Cairns and Colin Keenan, who join the firm's real estate practice, and litigator Gareth Hale

– all three join from Dentons – and corporate lawyers Martin Ewan and David Millar. The last two boost Brodies' growing practice in Aberdeen, as the firm marks a decade in the city.

Mr Cairns specialise­s in the UK real estate investment market, while Mr Keenan has a focus on the retail sector. Complement­ing Brodies’ litigation practice is Mr Hale, who has represente­d UK clients in sectors from housebuild­ing, shopping centres and retail parks to care homes and healthcare.

Mr Ewan has more than two decades under his belt and is an experience­d intellectu­al property and technology lawyer in the oil and gas industry, while Mr Millar is a veteran of corporate mergers and acquisitio­ns, joint ventures and private equity work.

In addition to the new partners, the firm has promoted nine colleagues to the role of senior associate and 12 to associate.
