#JERSEY

The fleet of fishing vessels that arrived in Jersey on Thursday morning were dispersing yesterday, according to authorities. They were protesting postbrexit EU fishing rights in UK waters.

@H_e_samuel wrote: “After ten hours at sea, the French fishing flotilla decided to end their blockade and return to the mainland and they are not happy as talks apparently got virtually nowhere.”

@Antonellamarr3 wrote: “Great Brexit deals come with consequences.”

@mattyt339 tweeted: “So the French threatened to cut of the leccy and sent boats to blockade Jersey to give Boris a hand in the elections?”

@jpm287 said: “Glad we left the EU and its aggressive attitude.”

@beglebugle wrote: “You mean, glad we screwed our own fishing industry.”

@johnstonlewiw said: “I was all for leaving the EU. Unfortunately the claim that we have left is nonsense. We haven't left and never will until the EU implodes, which it will. The government have shafted the British fishing industry yet again."

@Markl7067 wrote “Petty and childish. Why can't those in power grow up? The world should be protecting its oceans, not fighting over them. It's like seeing two old men squabbling over the last Werthers Original.” @two20 said: “I'm just amazed Johnson hasn't sent Trident submarines in to monitor the situation, that's what Churchill would have done. Keep up!”

#NONUPLETS

A Malian woman has given birth to nine babies, all by Caesarean section. They now face months in incubators, having been delivered at 30 weeks.

@sarahlovespugs tweeted: “Why does it seem across the globe we see this more prevalent than here?”

@Melthehorsegirl replied: “Caucasian women are much less likely to have multiple ovulations in one cycle. Africans/african Americans are the most likely. It's just one of the random differences between people from different geographic origins."

@mrsroo418 sighed: “Meanwhile so many woman struggle to even have a successful pregnancy with one baby. Life makes no sense.”

@hannahjwash said: “What a lovely little piece of news. So nice to read something happy.”
