Euro Implosion impresses with all-the-way win at Hamilton

- By GORDON BROWN

Euro Implosion was a game all-the-way 9/4 winner for Callum Rodriguez and Keith Dalgleish at Hamilton Park last night.

Dictating the pace from the start, the Carluke raider gradually increased the tempo from the half mile pole and held off the late challenge of Fourkingdomsbythree-quarters of a length in the Stay At Hampton By Hilton Hamilton Park Handicap.

The winning jockey said: “He’s a horse at the top of his game at the moment and, giventheformheisin,i’dwouldn’t be surprised if he won again. He is quite well-handicapped and his confidence is sky-high.

“I rode him from the front and I managed to get his lungs filled up round the loop and let him freewheel down the hill. He’s quickened really well when I’ve asked him and we all know he won three races on the trot a couple of years and and that he also stays further than this 1m 3f.”

Richard Fahey-trained Perfect Power was an impressive winner of the Book Our Onsite Hotel EBF Maiden Stakes under Paul Hanagan

The well-backed 4/11 favourite stormed home by two and a quarter lengths and his jockey said: “We though he’d win first time out at Newcastle and he’s always been so professional in everything he does. That debut brought him on mentally and physically and I’d say he is one of our better two-year-olds.”

Meanwhile, Andrew Balding's Auria looks sure to be suited by stepping up in trip for the Betfair British EBF Stakes at Newbury today.

The Listed event over 10 furlongs was formerly run as the Ballymacoll Stud Stakes, and it is perfect timing for those fillies for whom the Oaks at Epsom comes just a little too soon.

Auria has looked very promising in her light career to date, winning at the second time of asking at Kempton, and she took a big step forward first time out this year in a conditions event at Ascot.

She was catching the winner Creative Flair all the way to the line over a mile - and while the pair meet again on the same terms, the extra two furlongs can help her close the gap which was a length and a half.

Nicky Henderson appears to have taken far more interest in the summer jumping season this time around, and his Barely Famous should give him another winner in the Visit attheraces.com/marketmovers Maiden Hurdle at Uttoxeter.
