MOTD Live: UEFA Euro 2020

When Scotland played in the opening fixture of the 1998 World Cup against Brazil, no one imagined it would take 23 years for the team to return to a major championsh­ips.

Now, after a generation of disappoint­ment, Steve Clarke’s team get their first crack at the Euros in this match against the Czech Republic at Hampden Park. There’s a real buzz around the team and the revised format means they have a great chance of making it out of the group stage. Introduced by Eilidh Barbour, with commentary from Rob Maclean. Scotland’s second group game is against the Auld Enemy at Wembley on Friday (STV, 7pm), where Graeme Souness and Scott Brown will be pundits.

The former England striker steps away from his hit That Peter Crouch Podcast to reflect on the action at the Euros. Crouch, who visited the squads of all the home nations competing before the tournament began, has a lot of charm and insight to offer but we will have to wait to see how well the knockabout banter with co-hosts Maya James and Alex Horne actually works on live TV. If you want to get away from the football, seek out the company of Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson who host a week of live programmes from Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorkshire, run by brothers Rob and Dave Nicholson. The role of sheepdogs, buying a prized goat, repairing old farm machinery and setting up a socially-distanced fete are just some of the features promised during the week. Tennis fans can get their fix as Wimbledon warm-up tournament Queens begins. Five time winner Andy Murray, who has been battling injuries for the last few years, withdrew from the French Open and pulled out of the Nottingham Open in order to concentrat­e on this tournament, which will indicate his chances of competing at SW19 later in the month. Sue Barker hosts the action each day.
