Leaders at war
The row between Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and Nicola Sturgeon rumbles on after the First Minister insisted she was banning travel from Scotland to Greater Manchester over Covid rates.
I quite understand that she has a responsibility to protect the people of Scotland, but why single out Manchester when Dundee has equally high infection rates – it has not been made illegal to travel there as it has been for Manchester, there’s not even been a suggestion that it might be best to avoid Dundee or other places in Scotland with high infection rates.
Stuart Moyes You are not banned from travelling to Manchester, nobody can enforce this so fill your boots.
Tom Hamilton It's the First Minister's duty to give travel advice regarding any country, including England. I would suggest she just ignores this Manchester mayor from now on.

The fact that a few months ago, travel from England to Wales was banned under Covid restrictions seems to have been forgotten. This is a lot less restrictive. Protecting people’s health is more important than courting popularity. Difficult decisions, even though made for the best of reasons, are more likely to be unpopular, that is just a fact of life.

How is it OK to go to Dundee if that’s what it’s about? Dave Smith
It’s Sturgeon with her antiengland turn again.

Burnham had money thrown at him to help contain the virus, he has failed so expect others to avoid Manchester for the good of their health.

The Scottish Gov are a joke. They kept Glasgow on Level 3 when the rates were lower than they are now in parts of the country. They acted too slowly on the Delta variant and allowed it to get a massive grip on the country.
John Robertson Didn't stop Scots travelling to London, potentially spreading the virus from Central Belt hotspots, though.
Stewart Johnson She picked Salford because the BBC are based there.
