#LOCKDOWN

Nicola Sturgeon said lockdown levels will not change in Scotland. The First Minister said that “no part of the country will change level next week”. The current level of restrictions will stay in place until at least 19 July.

@wizzy205 tweeted: “Goal posts changing already from mid-july until August now! Probably be October then complete lockdown again.”

@Spaterson88 added: “She’s an absolute tyrant of a woman. Disgrace.”

@simodasink said: “If the vaccine is a solution to stopping isolation on returning from countries with much lower cases than us… then when will we ever not need to isolate? Virus won’t disappear, once vaccinated it’s all we can do. Life must go on.”

@Bagginssgx wrote: “From what I see and hear, people are now blasé about it and ignoring warnings – though mask wearing is still well followed. I wouldn’t like to be making these decisions and especially the next big one as many people are near ready to revolt."

@That_musician wrote: “She certainly doesn't sound like she wants to reopen and bring back tourism.”

@pennylane wrote: “Great, so another lockdown is inevitable. We’ve given up so much and for what? Scotland has the highest infection rate in Europe."

@annmcavoy said: “She has to wait for Boris to go first.”

@fmathieson tweeted: “On Friday it was three weeks, to 19 July, now it is six weeks to 9 August. Could Friday now be nine weeks to 30 August and by the end of August it is 2046 when variant 1,452,564 is kicking off. There is no plan to end this and it needs a different approach.”

@Helenbodell replied: “Well, if young people who have not been vaccinated did what they were supposed to do, numbers would be much lower and we would move quicker out of this mess. And yes, it is the younger age group who have not been vaccinated who are pushing up the numbers.”

@1Gregor! said: “The NHS is sitting doing nothing. We were originally put under restrictions to stop it being overloaded. No excuse for this nanny state behaviour any more.”

@Munrowalker89 wrote: “Don't believe a word of this! 12th of July new variant will suddenly appear, and this will change again.”
