The UK Government is encouraging school children across the country to sing a songentitled ‘Strongbritain, G reat Nation’ this week.

@Katyjane101 wrote: “Making kids sing ‘Strong Britain, One Nation’ , i s

enforced patriotism and has no place in a school system that is meant to promote critical thinking. If the Tories want kids to feel nationalistic pride perhaps they could start with the basics, such as tackling child poverty.”

@nfmusic wrote: “Not sure about the rest of you rabble, but I have woken up, turned on the Telescreen and already sung ‘Strong Britain, Great Nation’ five times while doing my star jumps.”

@unlit_uplands wrote: “Quite aside from the fascist overtones, ‘Strong Britain, Great nation’ is a phrase so c ack-handedly bereft of poetry it speaks as much about our country as if Borat had come up with it.”

@iainmartin tweeted: “Strong Britain Great Nation. Cognitive ‘ elite’ Twitter goes into meltdown over song – it's Boris turning us into North Korea! Oh wait, no, hold on. It wasn't the government. It was written by schoolchildren to ease racial tensions, for an organisation backed by

Joanna Lumley.”

Elton John's final Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will take place across the UK, Europe and North America.

@Rileyjames wrote: “Was supposed to see him with Billy Joel at Wembley many years ago. Billy cancelled because of health issues if I remember right. Elton still performed. He blew the house down!! An entire 3-4 hour show with no set break. True performer!”

@joelygabs tweeted: “I guess Elton is going the ‘ farewell’ Cher tour route – where he just farewells twenty times... I thought I saw his ‘farewell’ tour two years ago.”

@Therealotisfuzz replied: “He and Cher are going on a Casket Tour one day!”

@thebookn3rd asked: “Isn't this his third farewell tour?”

@iamantearo wrote: “For those asking if this is his 3rd or 4th farewell. It’s just one long-ass concert tour. The tour has seven legs and he’s already done a few of them. This is it for Rocket Man.”

@dark_swan wrote: “I saw him a few years back and those were some of the best 3 hours I ever lived in my life. Good for those lucky ones who'll see him bid farewell.”
