Iniesta pays tribute to Celtic’s new forward

Kyogo Furuhashi played his final game for Vissel Kobe at the weekend ahead of his move to Celtic.

The 26-year-old, who agreed a move to Parkhead last week, was on target in a 1-1 draw with Cerezo Osaka.

After the match fans and team-mates paid tribute to the departing forward, who is a key recruit for new Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou with the Australian well aware of the talent the player possesses.

Spanish footballing legend Andres Iniesta, pictured inset with Furuhashi, gave his own tribute to his team-mate on social media.

He tweeted: “Friend, a pleasure to share a dressing room with you and see your growth. I am very happy that you can fulfill your dream of playing in European football. Good luck.”

Iniesta signed the post off with a Shamrock.

Celtic fans may have to be patient to see Furuhashi in action with Postecoglou admitting it could take up to two weeks to get him in Scotland and training.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s hopes of signing Sacho Boey are seemingly dead after the defender reportedly ended talks with the club.

Postecoglou’s side were keen on the Rennes rightback as they seek to further strengthen their squad ahead of the new season and discussions with the player and his representatives had already taken place.

The 20-year-old has less than 12 months left on his deal and would be available for a cut-price fee.

French newspaper L’equipe say Boey rejected a contract from Celtic and decided to walk away from negotiations over a difficulty in agreeing to “foreign intermediaries” in the talks.

Right-back is a problem area for Celtic after both Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed were sold during last season.
