@goldanbiy43 wrote: “The hatred in this country is sickening. Can't we just get on with each other irregardless of political views? A sad day.” @urijahp wrote: “People die everyday. Kids starving, elderly left to rot. Starvation, illness, violence, choosing between food or heat, capitalism. Why the faux sympathy? If you really cared about the needless loss of life, you would fight for a better society and accept nothing less!" @Popezurie replied: “You can use that kind of mindset to justify any number of atrocities. If you can commit one crime and then disregard it because of all the other horrible things happening, then you can justify anything.” @Annawatton wrote: “This is awful. There is no place for this type of violence in UK society. People need to think really carefully about the populist rhetoric they use and the impact this has.” @Lucielooloo1 tweeted: “I take it that Johnson will cut short his freebie holiday and come straight back and make a statement?” @Iangee19 wrote: “Proof, if any was really needed, that we now live in a violent society where the price of a life is measured by the cost of a blade. Shame on those who fuel the hate behind acts like this. RIP Sir David, condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.” @Paul63b wrote: “This is an outrage. An utter tragedy. I've seen David Amess on numerous occasions and he always struck me as a thoroughly decent, good man. He did not deserve this. I was deeply moved by the murder of Jo Cox and this makes me equally angry. My deepest sympathies go to his family.”

@Jackjcroft added: “Tribal politics is so dangerous. We really need to start treating each other as equals with more humanity and open our minds that we’re all entitled to our own views/opinions. One side is never right all of the time.”

@hitscharming said: “This knife crime is going insane, enough is enough.” @Vexyhighwind wrote: “Some in positions of influence need to reflect on how their escalation of culture wars are putting their own friends and colleagues in serious danger every single day.”
