Scottish pupils may have to wait until March to find out whether they will have to sit formal exams this year, the education secretary has admitted. Critics warned that March was too late for both pupils and teachers to prepare.

I'm a teacher with a daughter who is due to sit five Highers in the springtime, but what are those who are criticisin­g actually wanting? This story makes out that it's the children of Scotland who are suffering, and ignores that this is a worldwide problem that is affecting every single country. To suggest that decisions are made right now is nonsense. Only a few weeks ago no-one had ever heard of Omicron and now we have schools and indeed businesses across the land unable to function properly due to staff absence and people off sick. This is a worldwide issue. It's not the fault of the SNP as the Tories and Labou would have you believe.

Classes could have been done over Teams – many places of work had to adapt to and do this in a matter of a few days. Then to be told there were no exams only to be hit with exams a few weeks after.
