One rule for her?

- Mike Buckle

The mandatory requirement to wear face coverings in Scotland will be extended a further two weeks in most settings, Nicola Sturgeon announced.

She is so arrogant that she knows better than anyone else. What's the betting it will get extended again, right up until the local elections?

She's failed to ‘read the room.

What? She and Pete [Murrell, Ms Sturgeon’s husband] weren’t wearing them on Tuesday [at Westminster Abbey]! I chucked mine weeks ago as, it seems, did most people in Edinburgh today.

Elizabeth Robertson Indeed, she went from the most infected part of the UK to the most densely populated city in the UK and decided she did not want to offer these people enhanced protection by her covering her face.

Stuart Brown

Is this her swan song?

On Monday I can go to a big wedding without a face nappy but if I go into Tesco's it’s so dangerous in there I have to wear one.

“The virus hangs about supermarket shelves”, said nobody ever. The control continues. She just cannot relinquish it.

Douglas James The photographic evidence confirms that: Sturgeon doesn't wear a mask when she goes to the pub. Sturgeon doesn't wear a mask when she socialises with her sister. Sturgeon doesn't wear a mask when she goes to church.

Ah’m No Bluffin If all of us responded to the pandemic in a sensible and public spirited way then far fewer Scots would have died and the restrictions we

face right now would not be necessary. Don't blame Nicola Sturgeon or Boris Johnson for the restrictions, let's blame the halfwits who deny Covid, refuse the vaccine and ignore the restrictions as they created this mess, not the politicians.

Sturgeon didn’t wear a face mask for at Cop 26 for all those selfies. One rule for, her another law for the rest of us.

Peter Villanelle

She’s not prepared to trust people and just can’t let go of the power she has. We’ll soon find out if the majority of people trust her and her party enough (something they clearly don’t

do themselves). I for one am now having serious doubts about their ability to lead the country as a democracy rather than the dictatorship she appears to prefer.

John Dickson Face masks are actually clever wee cloths. They know when you stand up in a restaurant and need them, but they also know when you sit down and they are obsolete.

Grumpy

It's not her fault (when is it ever?), she can't help herself. Blame the drongos who continuously vote for her.

Scott Rowan

Does the crumpling of a face mask, stuffing it into one's pocket with contaminated fingers, then bringing it out again several times during one trip to the local high street and using the same mask over a period of several weeks actually cause the transmission of Covid and other respiratory diseases to increase?

Ooyah

Small-minded idiotic comments make my blood boil. I’m just recovering from Covid and I've always wore my mask. I was extremely ill with it. If everyone wore their masks as they were asked to, I wouldn't have got it.

Mandi Brown

Awful announcement – why the delay?

Margaret Rorie

Probably because it's rife everywhere right now, believe me, I know.

Phil Diane Brownlie

It's all about control with Sturgeon, easing the restrictions just in time for the May elections. Coincidence that Swinney has Covid-19 now, like we're meant to believe that.

Fraser Thorburn

Had enough, it’s a democracy we live in. Just as people chose to have the jag, we should be able to chose whether to wear mask now.

Jocelyn Greene

Replace the beds and staff your party have dwindled away over the years and the NHS wouldn't be overwhelmed, it’s that simple.

Paul Mcglashan

So [face coverings] are less effective in a church than anywhere else? Could this be anything to do with the widely shown photos of her sitting in a church without a mask [on Tuesday]?

Margaret Mitchell

Significantly she mention ‘commemorative events’ along with other church services. When was the last time the likes of you or I attended a commemorative event?
